Gonzalo Muiño

Gonzalo Muíño profile

Being the son of an illustrator made it easy for his childhood to be between watercolors and brushes, until he managed to have his own materials. That was the way his mother entertained him during their travels: a sketchpad with some crayons and then the childish silence. Some of these pencils still are in the study of Gonzalo Muiño, formed between IED Madrid and the SVA of New York in Graphic Design.

The illustration began for him unprofessionally until he realized that his work was attracting the attention of unknown people. Since then he has worked for editorials such as Penguin, Planeta or Random House; published in magazines like AD, Grazia, Glamor or Vogue; as well as for brands such as Chanel, Kenzo, Trucco or Zara.

His work is elegantly optimistic, a mix between fashion and childish illustrations, he argues that even sadness can have its share of beauty. He has been the winner of the second edition of the contest New Gunter Artist in 2017.
