Collection: Maíllo
Between shock and carnal, the games of substance are meted out in the work of Maíllo (Madrid, 1985) like a laboratory of beings without form that live without order in a wide pictorial universe, with word as another element that travels within the frame and creates order so as to guide one to the sentiment contained. He is one of the great and promising Spanish artists of the moment, not just by us but by specialized critics. He has been reviewed in many publications, among which are the books "2014/ Antes de irse. 40 ideas sobre la pintura” by David Barro and "Arte Contemporáneo Español 1992-2013" by Rafael Doctor Roncero.
A graduate in Fine Arts from the Complutense University in Madrid, he has exhibited individually in spaces such as the Galería Ponce+Robles in Madrid, Art Center in Alcobendas (Madrid), and participated in the Contemporary Art Fair ARCOMadrid or Art Lima in Perú. In 2013 he was the invited artist at the festival of Tendencias Urbanas in Madrid, MULAFEST, in a promotion by the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. He forms part of the platform InTransit and the collective of creators of Matadero. He has also participated in the Festival Cultura Inquieta, in the Colegio de España in Paris and in the Sala de Arte Joven de la Comunidad de Madrid, being selected in the XXIII edition of Circuitos. His work is to be found in different private and public collections in Spain, France, Colombia, Switzerland, Mexico, Brasil and Germany.
