The relationship between Frida Kahlo and Chavela Vargas ran among poetry, confidences, tequila and a lot of tobacco. In a clear tribute to the Mexican artist, Alex de Marcos makes this portrait of her while she was smoking, relaxed. “The first time I saw Frida on the TV, as a teenager, I remember that her face was familiar to me. She reminded me of my aunt. I, who was totally obsessed with graffiti at that time, started looking for information about her. Seeing her being so critical about the situation in her country and, at the same time, loving it so much, changed my way of relating to my origins and to everything that I have lived since I was a little boy” says the creator.
